12 Steps on the Path to Freedom: 24 Weeks to Shatter Codependency and Own Your Power

Are you tired of losing yourself in other people’s problems, feelings, and needs? If you constantly find yourself rescuing others at your own expense, walking on eggshells, or tying your self-worth to how well you can "fix" a relationship, you are not alone.

The Freedom Path is an immersive, 24-week interactive workshop designed to guide you from the exhausting patterns of codependent lifestyles into a life of emotional freedom, healthy boundaries, and authentic self-love. Meeting for 1.5 hours weekly, this comprehensive program offers a structured, passionate environment to deeply work the steps and completely transform your relational habits.

In loving relationships, it is natural to put another’s needs first. Because of this, it can be difficult to tell when putting someone else’s needs first meets the threshold of codependency. As a result, codependency often and unfortunately goes under-recognized as a relationship problem.

The other person in this dynamic can be anyone—a spouse, child, parent, friend, client, or coworker. It frequently develops within chaotic or emotionally volatile family systems, such as those impacted by substance abuse, chronic illness, or mental health struggles.

A person overwhelmed by tangled thoughts and emotions.

Co-dependency is a learned behavior that can be passed down from one generation to another. It is also known as “relationship addiction” because people with codependency often form or maintain relationships that are one-sided, emotionally destructive and/or abusive. The disorder was first identified years ago as the result of years of studying interpersonal relationships in families of alcoholics. Co-dependent behavior is learned by watching and imitating other family members who display these types of behavior:

  • Obsessive Control: Trying to dictate, fix, or manage another person's choices, feelings, or actions.
  • Self-Abandonment: Focusing reflexively on another person's needs and emotions while ignoring and neglecting one's own well-being and identity.
  • Caretaking: Over-functioning or helping others to the absolute detriment of oneself, often cloaked in good intentions.
  • External Validation: Relying on the approval, moods, or stability of others to determine one's own self-worth
